A Newbie Co-Writes a Book Series

This is my first blog post ever!!! I have no idea how long they should be, but I'm going for it. If it's too long, you'll let me know, right?

First let me say THANK YOU for your interest in The Quarterback Keeper. If you're here, I would assume you've read it or are going to read it. Either way, your intentions are appreciated more than you know. And I can't tell you how much we appreciate your support. It's both thrilling and scary as hellfire to do this, but I'm ready.

This is my first everything, so please be patient with me as I learn all of this. I've never managed a website before, other than when I was teaching full time, and that doesn't come close to what I'm doing now. Managing a website, Facebook, Instagram, and Goodreads while also writing and editing is definitely new. I'm used to managing elementary kids who sometimes got my jokes.

I'm so fortunate to have Rheland as a writing partner. She is so patient with me and all my questions. There's a five-hour time difference and an ocean between where we each live, so it's not unusual to have texts or messages in the middle of the night. When an idea strikes, you have to make the most of it.

What I've learned in the last week:

  1. It takes forever for Amazon to update your manuscript when you're a brand new author submitting it a second time. As we read back through the manuscript, I found some places that needed a little work. After we got them ironed out, I uploaded the updated manuscript. It only took 24 hours for the uploaded version to be updated. Unfortunately, some folks got the first version, rather than the updated one. Again, newbie mistake.

2. Promotion is key. I have to get used to posting about it every day on every platform I'm attached to. Thanks for recommending it to friends.

3. There are some really kind people out there, and then some not so kind. Word

choice matters. Kindness matters. That's what I used to tell my fourth and fifth

graders. Rheland told me there would be negative reviews, and I was prepared until I read them.

Just a secret.....Pass Interference is 80% complete! More details later!

Thanks for reading!!
